| Promoting Bicycle Transportation at Work: |
| Though there are many logical reason why people use bicycles for transportation, there are others who still need a bit of convincing. Usually, these individuals simply don’t see the benefits of bicycle riding, though most of these reasons may be right in front of their face. There are many different way to promote bicycle transportation in an office setting; in order to equally benefit yourself, the current non-biking employee, and the rest of the community that uses your location daily. |

| Ensure Route Safety from Every Direction Leading to your Location. |
| Make sure there are bicycle lanes or sidewalk leading up to your site. Inform your employees of the best routes to take and estimated travel times from recognizable locations. If routes are unsafe, attempt to work with elected officials on changing that. |
| Post or Handout a Bicycle Map. |
| Provide employees with maps of safe bicycle routes to recognizable locations and bus stops. Include traffic information and bus routes to combined bicycle and public transportation. Also include information on routes and streets that are unsafe for bicyclers. |
| Directly Endorse Bicycle Transportation to your Employees. |
| Let your employees know that you support bicycle transportation. Put up posters and signs in break rooms that support bicycle use. Realize that bicycle transportation takes a lot longer than car transportation; therefore, show understanding when bicyclers are late for work. |
| Provide Bicycle Parking. |
| If there is no place to safely store bicycles at your location, cyclists will be less likely to park their bicycle their. Adequate bicycle parking will show your employees that you are doing whatever it takes to provide for them. |
| Provide Lockers and Showers |
| Riding a bicycle usually requires a lot of physical exertion, almost always resulting in sweat. Most people won’t want to work after effort like that, unless they can change their clothes and clean themselves off. Lockers and showers would directly address this issue. Employees can keep a change of clothes at work in their lockers, and can wash themselves off in the showers. |
